On Saturday, 21 February, Saudi Arabia officially joined the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI).
The GPAI is a multilateral initiative launched by the G7 and hosted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). It aims to unite over 40 countries in developing and promoting ethical standards for AI technologies.
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) will represent the Kingdom in this collaborative endeavor, which seeks to address the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence on a worldwide scale.
The accession is supported by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative.
Through its membership in GPAI, Saudi Arabia will be positioned to contribute significantly to shaping international AI standards.
The joining of GPAI emphasizes Saudi Arabia’s growing regulatory framework to facilitate investment in technology and data ecosystems, making it increasingly attractive to high-quality global investors.
By aligning with the GPAI, Saudi Arabia reinforces its commitment to ethical AI governance and asserts its vision of becoming a leader in the digital economy.
