The global sensation Circus 1903 is set to make its Jeddah debut this summer, promising a theatrical spectacle that merges nostalgia with contemporary performance art. Running from 7 to 11 June 2025 at the Abadi Al-Johar Arena, the internationally acclaimed show will be a headline event of Jeddah Season 2025.
Known for blending the grandeur of early 20th-century circuses with the innovation of modern stagecraft, Circus 1903 offers audiences an immersive journey into the golden age of circus entertainment. The production features world-class acrobats, aerialists, contortionists, and strongmen, all performing in a setting designed to evoke the sights and sounds of a bygone era.
One of the show’s most distinctive features is its use of life-sized elephant puppets, brought to life by the same creative team behind the award-winning Broadway production War Horse. These elephants, named Queenie and Peanut, are central characters in the performance and have captivated audiences worldwide with their detailed construction and expressive movements.
Circus 1903 first appeared in Saudi Arabia in 2024 with a successful run at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) in Dhahran. The show’s arrival in Jeddah this year reflects its growing popularity and the expanding cultural calendar in the Kingdom.
Organizers of Jeddah Season 2025 have described Circus 1903 as one of the season’s marquee attractions, drawing families and culture lovers alike. With a runtime designed to engage audiences of all ages, the show offers an alternative to traditional circus formats, focusing on theatrical storytelling and human artistry rather than live animals.
