Tourist accommodations across Saudi Arabia are now required to provide a minimum stay period of 20 hours between check-in and check-out times, the Saudi Ministry of Tourism announced in a tweet on Thursday, August 7. This policy aligns with international standards and aims to maintain consistent quality in hospitality services.

Under the rule, reservations include clearly specified check-in and check-out times, ensuring guests a full stay of at least 20 hours. While hotels and other facilities can adjust schedules based on location and guest profiles, the minimum duration must always be met.

Late arrivals do not affect the scheduled check-out time meaning that if a guest with a scheduled check-out time at noon will still be expected to depart at noon, even in the case of late arrival. Lost hours due to late arrival are the guest’s responsibility.

The Ministry highlights that the 20-hour timeframe allows accommodation providers sufficient time to clean and prepare rooms for incoming guests, supporting high standards of service. The stay duration calculation relies solely on the times documented in the reservation confirmation.

The tweet does not clarify whether this policy extends to non-traditional hospitality and accommodation facilities such as Airbnb. In the case of further inquiries, the Ministry advises guests to call 930.
