Hattan Alsaif Makes History as First Saudi Woman in Professional Fighters League

May 19, 2026

Hattan Alsaif is set to make history as the first Saudi woman to compete in professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) when she makes her debut at the upcoming Professional Fighters League  (PFL) PFL MENA event in Jeddah on Friday, June 19.

The event, promoted by the Professional Fighters League, will take place at the King Abdullah Sports City Indoor Arena and will feature regional tournament bouts across multiple weight divisions.

Alsaif, one of Saudi Arabia’s most promising MMA talents, will headline the card in her professional debut. She enters the fight with an undefeated amateur record and is widely regarded as one of the region’s fastest-rising fighters.

She will face Algeria’s Dania Ouhachi in a 49.8 kg catchweight bout, marking the start of her professional career on a major stage.

The card also features several other regional matchups, including tournament bouts in the featherweight and welterweight divisions, showcasing rising talent from across the Middle East and North Africa.

Her rise also sits within a broader wave of Saudi women breaking new ground in sport. Athletes such as Sarah Attar helped pave the way on the Olympic stage, becoming one of the first Saudi women to compete at the Games in athletics.

In motorsport, Reema Juffali has also gained international recognition, competing professionally and helping open doors for women in a traditionally male-dominated field.

These achievements reflect a growing sporting landscape in Saudi Arabia, where more women are now competing professionally and representing the country on global stages.
