August 5, 2025

Vibes AlUla has officially opened registration for an upcoming hackathon focused on sustainable tourism, set to take place from August 10 to 12 in the historic region of AlUla. The initiative aims to empower local talent, foster entrepreneurship, and support the long-term development of AlUla’s tourism sector by encouraging creative, environmentally conscious solutions.

The hackathon is open to Saudi residents aged 18 and above, with priority given to residents of AlUla. Participants can apply individually or as part of a team consisting of two to five members. All sessions and materials will be conducted in Arabic, and registration is subject to terms and conditions.

A Platform for Local Innovation

The three-day event will feature an intensive training program designed to equip participants with the tools needed to develop viable tourism-related projects. The program includes specialized workshops, mentorship sessions, and consultations with experts in innovation, sustainability, tourism, and agriculture.

According to the organizers, the hackathon is part of a broader effort to build a more resilient and locally driven tourism ecosystem, rooted in AlUla’s cultural and environmental heritage. Participants will be encouraged to create practical solutions that align with the region’s goals for sustainable development.

Learning Objectives and Program Highlights

In addition to the core focus on tourism, the hackathon will address intersections with other sectors, particularly agriculture. Participants will explore topics such as:

  • Design thinking
  • Sustainable supply chains in agriculture
  • Presentation and pitching skills
  • Career opportunities in the agricultural sector

The program aims to support locally anchored, sustainable projects that reflect the realities and needs of AlUla. Through direct engagement with expert mentors and local leaders, participants will have the chance to shape ideas that could contribute to long-term economic and environmental resilience.

Incentives and Support

Participants will benefit from a range of incentives, including:

  • Financial prizes for top projects
  • Mentorship and consultation sessions
  • Entrepreneurship meetups
  • Hands-on workshops
  • Expert-led training modules

The hackathon is part of AlUla’s growing investment in human capital and sustainable development. By placing local talent at the center of its tourism strategy, the initiative reflects the region’s commitment to inclusive, community-led growth.
