Saudi Arabia’s state-backed artificial intelligence (AI) company Humain is preparing to release Humain Chat, an Arabic conversational app powered by its flagship model Allam 34B, by the end of the month, the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Tareq Amin, announced on 14 August.
Humain Chat aims to become the leading foundational model in Arabic, designed as a general-purpose tool to support progress across industries, according to Amin.
Powered by Allam 34B, the app was developed entirely in-house by more than 120 AI experts, among them 35 Ph.D. researchers based in Saudi Arabia. The application is intended to serve the world’s 350 million Arabic speakers.
Unlike open internet sources, Amin said, Humain relied on proprietary datasets tailored to Arabic and is culturally mindful, capable of dialect comprehension. The model is expected to handle Modern Standard Arabic as well as regional dialects, including Saudi, Egyptian, Jordanian, Lebanese, and others.
Humain was established in May under the Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth vehicle, as part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s broader push into artificial intelligence.
The company has pledged to develop advanced AI applications, build one of the strongest large language models in Arabic, and expand data center and cloud computing infrastructure across the kingdom.
Additionally, Humain announced a USD 10 billion (SAR 37.5 billion) fund to support tech start-ups, aiming to strengthen its position in the region’s digital economy.
“This is not the end state, but the beginning of a journey to serve the Kingdom, the Arabic-speaking world, and beyond,” Amin stated. “The potential is limitless, accelerating innovation and progress across every dimension of commercial and social life.”
The Humain Chat app is currently accessible for free on iOS, Android, and via web browsers, with plans to expand to other Arabic-speaking countries in the near future.
