Saudi Arabia Launches Tender for the World’s Tallest Sports Tower in Riyadh

August 19, 2025

Saudi Arabia’s Sports Boulevard Foundation has officially launched a tender, a bidding process through which companies compete to carry out a project to build the world’s tallest sports tower, rising 130 meters within the heart of Riyadh’s Sports Boulevard, already the longest linear park on the planet.

Designed to integrate more than thirty sports facilities, the tower will feature a record-setting 98-meter indoor climbing wall and a fully enclosed 250-meter running track. Spanning 84,000 square meters, this structure is a significant step in redefining fitness-oriented infrastructure.

Notably, the tower is the first building in the Kingdom to receive dual Platinum ActiveScore certifications, recognizing its excellence in promoting active travel and sustainable design.

ActiveScore is a global standard that celebrates developments encouraging walking, cycling, and overall healthy, city-centered lifestyles. One certification awards the Sports Boulevard masterplan as an entire community, while the other acknowledges the tower itself as a facility setting new benchmarks in promoting urban activity.

This landmark forms part of a 135-kilometer corridor blending sports, art, and culture, 40 percent of which is already delivered.

Approved by a board chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the tower aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 ambitions, the Kingdom’s long-term development plan aimed at diversifying the economy, reducing reliance on oil, and enhancing quality of life through projects in tourism, culture, and sustainability.

With Riyadh aiming to welcome 40 million visitors by Expo 2030, the project is poised to become a defining urban and cultural icon.

Applications for the construction tender are open until 30 September 2025, inviting global contenders to take part in one of the most ambitious urban initiatives currently underway.
